Provisional Route Outline (subject to change) - January 2008

Sunday 14th September

Arrive mid afternoon in Stavanger (Norway) for a pre-event welcome by the town. Overnight in Stavanger.

Monday 15th September

The Official Start of the Euroclassic, we will be leaving Stavanger around 08.30 and heading north through beautiful coastal scenery to Bergen, crossing two fjords by short ferry links. Our overnight halt will be in Bergen, once the capital of Norway, and situated between a range of mountains known as De Syv Fjell (The Seven Mountains).

Tuesday 16th September

Leaving Bergen around 08.00 and heading north along a mixture of coastal and mountain roads, with another short ferry crossing, we will arrive at our overnight halt at the Union Hotel in Geiranger - where the owner, a classic car enthusiast, has his own private collection. Geiranger is a small tourist town in the western part of Norway and is home to some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Wednesday 17th September

This morning we will leave the hotel at 09.00 by ferry, as foot passengers, for a 90 minute ferry trip to the fabulous Geirangerfjord, the crowning glory among Norway's fjords. Returning to the hotel we continue our journey further north to the beautiful town of Ålesund for lunch, before travelling along the famous Atlantic Road, and taking two more short fjord ferry crossings to Kristiansund for our third overnight halt. The Atlantic Road's sharp turns and wild nature have ranked it first on The Guardian's list of the world's best roads.

Thursday 18th September

Leaving Kristiansund at 08.30, we turn inland, heading south towards Oslo. Another short fjord crossing will lead us to our eventual overnight halt in Vinstra - a spectacular ski resort and beautiful mountain side hotel.

Friday 19th September

Departing from Vinstra around 09.00 we make our way to Lillehammer, location of the 1994 Winter Olympics and a picturesque location between lakes and mountains, before heading to our overnight halt in Oslo.

Saturday 20th September

A day of leisure in Oslo. This capital city is situated at the end of the Oslofjord from where the city sprawls out to the north and south on both sides to form a U-shaped centre. Oslo is filled with sights of interest, such as museums, parks and urban districts with listed buildings, and is also considered to be one of the leading shopping cities in the world.

Sunday 21st September

Leaving Oslo around 08.30 our first circuit visit takes us to Sarpsborg, before heading to Karlstad for lunch. Karlstad is reputed to be one of the sunniest towns in Sweden and is also the headquarters of the International Swedish Rally, a long term World Rally Championship event. From Karlstad we travel towards Jönköping for our overnight halt.

Monday 22nd September

Leaving Jönköping around 08.30, we will be visiting the Anderstorp circuit, one time venue for the Swedish Grand Prix and now home to WTCC and A1 Grand Prix rounds, before taking in another circuit visit at Knutstorp, home to a round of the Swedish Touring Car Championship. Our final destination, and venue for our finish dinner in the beautiful town hall, is Malmö - where we have been assured of a very warm welcome.
