The sixteenth running of this iconic event for cars over twenty years old will predominantly be based in Norway. The 2008 MSA Euroclassic has been designed by "routemeister" Pete Wellington to explore the historic cities and towns, breathtaking fjord and mountain scenery and the magnificent driving roads of this spectacular country. Going well beyond the normal tourist hot spots we will get a real feel for this friendly country, including a car free fjord boat trip.
Our trip will last 8 days and for most overnights, participants will all stay in the same high quality hotel at the various locations, assuming the booking is made through Kuoni, our approved accommodation agency. Following positive feedback from last year we will be enjoying two nights in Oslo with a rest day to allow for sightseeing and shopping.
With challenging scenic roads and a long history of rallying, Norway has little need for permanent race circuits, so we will finish our Odyssey with a sweep down through Sweden to finish at Malmö, convenient for a quick dash to Esbjerg for the Harwich ferry or for a leisurely visit to Copenhagen.
As usual we will be visiting various check point venues along the route - a mixture of museums, town centres, and other interesting locations, which will be confirmed in the regular updates sent to all participants. We also have visits to 3 circuits along the way - Sarpsborg (Norway) and Knutstorp (Sweden), with our feature circuit, Swedens premier venue, Anderstorp, host to the World Touring Car Championship and A1 Grand Prix.
The tourist authorities tell us that we can expect pleasant weather and our trip is timed to beat any early autumn snow.
The high standards associated with the event will be maintained: a full team of event officials, legendary on-event breakdown assistance by Norman Winchester and his band of classic car experts, a full route book and the nicest bunch of travelling companions you will ever come across. Lunch stops, dinners and further route details will be advised in event bulletins and via this website.
