Not only is their car 'poetry in motion' but on the 2005 MSA Euroclassic, Alan Hills showed his talent as a 'poet in motion'.
This has now become a regular feature of the event and this year his ode was performed at the last night gala dinner by Ian Coomber, with the able assistance of the entire audience.
A French Classic Detour
To Plymouth and Drake's famous Hoe
One hundred classic cars did go
Across the Biscay Bay they went
A carefree drive was their intent
As they approached the Spanish shore
They wondered who could ask for more
The road reached levels of magic heights
The Pyrenees were in their sights
They passed through rocks and trees and valleys
We do enjoy these lovely rallies
Thanks to the clout of the MSA
The route was opened for our stay
The workers stopped as we passed through
Another 1st for you know who
All cars gathered for Formula ThreeA parade was arranged for Alan and me
And as we went around the track
Remember - classic cars do not look back
Like Dinky Toys we went round and round
The joy they bring - well just their sound
Drivers ladies, drivers men
All were at it, once again
In France they say 'ooh la la'But back at home it's classic car
The windmills stand up on the hill
Turning round at nature's will
They give us something to remember
As Summer turns into September
Bordeaux with its city square
Classic cars are everywhere
Then cognac laid it on in style
It really was a trip worthwhile On to Versailles for our final run 2009 has been great fun Our thanks for all who made our trip Once started there's no stopping it Always, always, motor cars There's a nice one - must be one of ours Thanks to Norman and his team He works his magic like a dream The route was fine, so thank you Peter and MSA We're very pleased we came this way
